HaPpY HaLlOwEen!
Today was Halloween. James is working. Addy and I spent our first halloween by starting off at the dogpark with my mom and her dog Gus. Addy did very well. She ate, then slept. So I had a little time to focus on Jake. After that, we went to another dogpark and met up with Bailey and her husky Nikolai. An hour later, Addy was screaming NO MORE DOGPARKS! So we dropped Jakey off at Grandmas.
My parents came over this evening. We made healthy- homemade pizza. I made the dough in my bread machine... a combo of whole wheat flour and spelt. We used low-fat mozzerella, and turkey-pepperoni. I added some pineapple to one pizza as well. On the weight-watcher scale, our pizzas were very low in points. And contrary to the frozen store-bought pizzas, very low in sodium as well. We may have even saved a few bucks too! And they were YUMMY!
I do not like scarey movies, or lots of candy. The thought of spending sixty bucks on a costume I will only wear one night is not appealing either. Needless to say, if Halloween did not exist, I would not be sad.
Addy and I had a mellow first Halloween. I am looking forward to seeing her get excited in the years to come. However, I am glad they are not in the near future, and we can spend these nights with family.

Girls Night Out #1

Addy went on her first 'Girls Night Out" with her mom and aunt Bailey! We went to the cheesecake factory. We had chinese chicken salad and red velvet cheesecake. Then we walked around the mall and went shopping. Addison was great! She wore a new outfit with her favorite bow. Bailey wore her new boots, and I wore my new shirt (not that you could tell, the sling covers everything). It was so much fun, that Addy slept 6hours that night. Unfortunately I kept waking up at every noise she made thinking she was gonna be starving. And she was up ALL day today. The longest nap she took was 20 min max. So maybe that means another long nights rest tonight. So since she just fell aslepp, I thought I would add these pics. Now I better go to bed, while Addy is sleeping.Friday, October 2, 2009

Keeping myself busy...
OK, so we do have a few other things going on besides just taking care of Addison.. even though I know that is what you guys wanna hear about :-)
Since I am at home, I am going to attempt to make our meals at home. This will be a lot healthier and cheaper. I found a website that has a lot of information about healthy living www.passionatehomemaking.com So, since I am feeling much better these days, I am starting my adventure! I made my meal plan for the week, made my shopping list and was off to the store. James is very excited about the recipes. The foods are mostly unpasteurized, without preservatives, and include fruits and veggies! I had to google a few ingredients like spelt, rapadura, and kefir. I discovered new areas of the grocery store that I have never been to before. All the recipes are from scratch. James said, "this is all you need for a weeks worth of meals?" So here we go... a new adventure for me. Our grocery bill was a fraction of the cost and James is looking forward to our meals. We even had to have tomorrows breakfast tonight because we couldn't wait til the morning to try it. We had oatmeal (rolled oats) with flax seed, dried cranberries and blueberries, chopped apples, raw honey, cinnamon, butter and milk. YUMMY! It only took a few minutes to make!
Tomorrow James is off to work, so I will be preparing much of the recipes for the week ahead. First on the list is making granola. (its first, just because I like it! and wanna snack on it)
SO... that's the adventure I am embarking on. Hopefully it will last :-S I will try to let you know how it goes.
